A Powerful Drink Driving Deterrent…In An Unusual Place

This week in Ireland, the law was changed to reduce the blood alcohol limit from 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mg. Needless to say, this has divided the population, with rural publicans suggesting that it is the final nail in the coffin for their dying trade and service in the community.

Whatever the law, nobody wants to be in an accident or cause an accident. Any method of communication that conveys the message of the perils and effects of drink driving gets my vote. Here’s a great message well positioned in men’s toilets.

and this one at a wedding…

80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mg

Barry, thanks for the article. Any idea how this converts to the more common BAC levels used in the states?

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your blog comments. 80mg and 50mg translates to 0.08% and 0.05% respectively.

Hope this helps and keep the comments coming!

    Cheers,

    Barry
