How Easy Do You Make It For Customers To Pay?

restcheckIsn’t it funny? You’ve gone to all that work to attract customers, spent significant sums of money on advertising, staff and food and beverage ingredients, you’ve provided great service, but on the last hurdle, the last impression, the final test, you make it difficult for your customers to pay.

How often have you been out for a meal, in a rush to leave and because the server has removed the last plates, has ignored your desperate attempts to give him/her money?

It happens very frequently if my experiences are anything to go by.

Coach your staff so that they know:

  1. How to know when to present the bill.
  2. Who to present the bill to.
  3. When to return and collect payment.
  4. How to present the change/credit card docket.

It’s often an overlooked part of service and when you bear in mind that the last impression is what the customer’s take with them, it’s worth getting right.
