How to remove the fear your customers have



This is my second post from the hospital today and I came across the sign below on the back of a toilet door of all places!

This is a simple sign that lists a number of testimonials previous patients have submitted relating to their time in the hospital.

Each one is more glowing than the next making you almost want to have any future medical work done right here!

It might not seem like a big deal. But we’ve all been afraid in a hospital at some point. Most fear comes from not knowing. This poster is helping reinforce the message that patients are safe here and others have gone before and lived to tell the tale!

It might just be the message that someone needs to see while awaiting surgery or waiting for news on a loved one.

I mentioned in a previous post how fear is one of the reasons that customers don’t buy from you. With this in mind, my challenge to you is to make a list of all the reasons your customers might be afraid to try what you sell and see what you can do to overcome each objection you think of.

Example:

Objection: Might be too expensive
Solution: Offer a money back guarantee or describe in detail the reasons for the pricing. Maybe the beef is reared locally and there is a story behind the farm and the farmer.

You might fin thy some customer objections are easily overcome, you just have to work our why they are first.

Having identified some of the objections potential customers have to a B&B, these are the first things to address in your blog, website, or indeed any of your marketing efforts.

Many hotels have become cheap enough to compete with B&Bs so B&Bs need to up their marketing game to keep up. Namely, in showing high quality images of the accommodation, home, etc.

People buy with their eyes and a simple, clean B&B website that is crystal clear in terms of it's offerings will help greatly.

Of course, you have to get them to the website in the first place!

Not a bar, but a bed and breakfast. We frequently hear people we meet say, 'Oh, a B&B. I've never tried one.' When asked why not, it's usually along the lines of, 'Well, I don't know what I'm going to get do I?'

The fears seem to run along the lines of:
No privacy;
Eating breakfast with strangers;
Having to share the space with the innkeepers;
Having a curfew;
Just not knowing what might be in store.

I welcome some helpful comments I might use on my website or in a blog about 'how to choose a B&B' or even 'why to choose a B&B.'

I support this idea, be very careful on what you say and how it is said or positioned but get it said, local comment and the way to harvest support for your brand is the key ,thought for this day is " to not worry about rules but just get started and learn as you go" ..www.theblogpaper.co.uk, (Local Marketing Made Simple) talks about this technique as "noise", just start making noise and your brand or blog or business will slowly get noticed...even searching locally can harvest some real gems to gain local customers..the point is for £100 or $100 you can get a student to do some 20 hours of viral chat/marketing/harvest databases and e-mail addresses...then just experiment on what is best for you. Clearly finding influencers to talk you up can help...it's not all about discounting, which seems to be the trend during recession, but if you need a low entry and low cost marketing campaign then creating "noise" is a very economical approach...the louder the "noise" the more customers you will attract...rules and conditions will only scare you..so pinning customer comments both good and bad are a very effective way to market...a mix of viral and paper would be perfect. In Germany I found a restaurant where customer comments wereprinted on the loo paper..now thats innovation...

I have a very sad/funny story about my husband's stay in the hospital last year for replacement hip surgery.

To make a very long story brief - I threw a sock at a male nurse out of frustration because my husband was not getting proper care and I was really scared he was going to die in the hospital.

2 minutes later the security guards appeared and 5 minutes after that the police appeared.

The male nurse pressed charges of assault! Remember this was a sock (soft & small)
