I recently shot a quick video on the fly in a bar that had it’s own pouring table where customers could reserve their table, register their credit card and pour their own pints from the taps at the table all night long.

In Europe, Diageo the owner of Guinness sees this as a real growth area in bars producing “significant sales improvements” for the brand.

Brian Duffy, managing director – Ireland for Diageo, said the trial was still being evaluated, although the early signs had been very encouraging. “Where we have tested ‘pour your own pint’ it has produced significant sales improvements, and shifted share towards us from other brands,” he said.

Installing such a system is clearly a crowd puller and while it is still new and novel offers a great talking point in your bar.
