<p>Does your website have a virtual tour? Well, it should!</p>
<p>Potential customers are less likely than ever to show up to your establishment without having scoped you out first. They’re now going online to research the best places to go for the right occasion. For example, if I’m researching places to meet a client, I’m looking for somewhere quiet, bright, and convenient. Fearing I’ll drive right by the location, I’ll look for exterior photos to see if the business is located in a strip mall or on a busy street. The more I know, the less likely I’ll be to end up lost! Maybe I’ll look at the interior photos to know if there’s ample seating and appropriate lighting.<br />

<p>In contrast, if I’m choosing a bar for my best friend’s Bachelorette Party, I’ll be looking for photos that represent the style of the bar. Is there a dance floor? Are they packed with people having a good time? Customers often imagine the experience they will have, which leads to expectations. If they’re expecting a casual neighborhood bar but instead get a multi-level techno bar, they’re not going to be a happy customer. Don’t set yourself up to fail. Attract the right customers for the right occasion and you will get better reviews and more repeat customers.<span style="color: #ffffff;"><br />

When having your space photographed, consider your target market and the purpose the photos will serve. Maybe you could advertise your “Live Band Thursdays” and “Sushi and Sake Sundays”. You could have a different photo for every day of the week!</p>
<p>To gather ideas, pretend you’re giving a one-on-one tour. Walk around and point out all the things you love about your bar. Accentuate its best features, like the large patio bar or the recycled glass counter tops. Communicate to your customers all the possible ways your location could fit their needs.</p>

If you do choose to photograph when there are customers, make sure the photographer gets individuals to sign model releases to avoid legal ramifications. You might even consider hiring models or bringing in friends to be photographed to avoid any misunderstandings with customers.</p>
<p>The Web isn’t the only place to utilize photos. They’re also great for print advertising, fliers, posters, and in the press. And while photos are important, video might be another option for you. <div>Probably  one of the most popular questions I get asked from other Rhinos is,  &#8220;how do you get so much done in a day?&#8221; Most Rhinos have the same  problem: lots of great ideas but not enough time.  It doesn&#8217;t matter  what you do for a living; your time is very valuable and you need to  maximize it. It doesn&#8217;t matter whether you are a customer service  representative, a school teacher, a lawyer, doctor, salesperson or  entrepreneur&#8230; TIME IS MONEY! The better you manage your time the more  money you can earn in your lifetime. Better time management will result in promotions, raises, more customers, more opportunities and more money!</div>

<p>Everyday,  time vampires and distractions will take you off course. Surprises will  develop that take your attention and emergencies will develop. It&#8217;s  important to stay focused and get back to your major priorities when you  distractions occur.</p>

<p>Follow these tips to reduce wasted time and increase the speed of your charge:</p>
<p>1. <strong>Don&#8217;t answer the phone!</strong> Unless it is important and relevant to what you are doing at the time, ignore distracting random phone calls!</p>
<p>2. <strong>Start and end meetings on time with a clear agenda.</strong> Have a to-do list at the end of the meeting with specific tasks assigned to specific people with specific deadlines.</p>
<p>3. <strong>Create must do lists.</strong> Every day and every night, make a clear list of the most important tasks to finish that day.</p>
<p>4. <strong>Block your day into segments.</strong> Divide your day into important segments that allow you to be focused on  the most important tasks during a specific time period. Create certain  time periods to check emails, return phone calls and deal with daily  surprises.</p>
<p>5. <strong>Connect your daily activities to your major goals.</strong> Every day you need to make progress towards your goals. Following these  five steps will allow you to move forward inch by inch and step by step  to your goals.  Make sure that the hours you spend every day move you  closer to your goals.</p>

<div>You  can train your clients, customers, co-workers, employees and even your  boss to work with this system! Everyone values productivity. When you  explain this system to those you do business with, you can have them  interact with you according to these principles!</div>

<p><strong>The Brief:</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://facebook.com/pulsedayton">Pulse Nite Club</a> was looking for a cost effective way to build anticipation for the grand opening of a night club in the Oregon District of Dayton, Ohio.</p>
<p><strong>The Strategy:</strong></p>
<p>We created a Facebook business page and Twitter account to build Pulse Nite Club’s social media presence online. A Facebook Ad campaign, targeting 21-45 year olds in the Oregon District of Dayton, Ohio, was implemented to attract users to the new page.</p>
<p>After creating a social media presence, we customized each page. The Facebook page included a customized landing tab that was the first thing seen by Facebook users upon visiting the page.</p>

<p>We executed a social media strategy a month in advance of the opening. Starting on February 16th, the strategy encompassed a mixture of interactive questions, updates on anything from drink specials to a newly hired DJ, and even a featured countdown until the grand opening.</p>

In a span of three weeks from February 16th to March 11th, Pulse Nite Club went from no fans to 450 fans on their opening night.</p>
<p>February 19th to the 20th saw a jump in daily interactive users from 0 to 56. The number of fan comments went from zero per day to 32 per day on opening night, with a total number of 344 daily active users.</p>
<p>From opening night on, at least half of the people who were fans of the page continued to interact daily.</p>
<p><strong>Results:<br />
</strong><br />
On opening night, Pulse was at full capacity with little non-social media advertising. One Facebook fan commented that when she left at 1:00 a.m. the night of the grand opening, there was still a line out the door to get in.</p>

<p>Customers continued to interact with the page daily. Any inquiries regarding drink specials, cover charges, and hours of operation were directed toward the Facebook page. With a quick response rate to customer comments and concerns, customers quickly came to see the Pulse Nite Club Facebook fan page as a customer service area.</p>
<p>After the grand opening, the fan page was tagged in reviews posted by Facebook users. Fans were coming back to the page to share their experience with Pulse, as well as other users.</p>

<p>Instead of creating a Facebook Event or only asking their friends, the guys at Middle West Spirits used a status update (and picture upload) to crowd source. The status update received 50 comments and 22 likes. They could have easily paid employees or outsourced the work, but they looked at this as an opportunity to use social media to engage their fans by offering t-shirts and pizza to the volunteers.</p>
<p>After the event, fans came back to the page to thank them for the experience.</p>

This is something that we always recommend an establishment should do, because it gives your fans a behind-the-scenes look at your organization. What we like even more is that they provided the date of the event within the title of the album. Maybe this means that they’ll have more customer bottling events? We can only hope!</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">Ultimately, Middle West Spirits was able to leverage their Facebook Page to engage with fans offline. It&#8217;s certainly not to say that your bar or restaurant couldn&#8217;t do the same. While you may not be able to have customer bottling events, this concept can still translate into other events. Bars could crowd source for guest bartenders or for customers or fans to help at events outside of the restaurant. You restaurant could even extend invitations for menu tastings to a select number of fans. The possibilities are endless!</div>

<p>Today&#8217;s blog is all about establishing your MISSION STATEMENT—your personal mission statement and/or your professional mission statement.  I had an exciting three days last week speaking to 200 Irish pub owners from all around the world.  It was truly a great experience and we welcome those pub owners to Rhino Living and their first weekly email!  For all of those pub owners, this mission statement exercise is great to do with your staff and management.  Every business owner on this email needs a clear, compelling, and passionate mission statement that is shared with the entire company on a regular basis.<br />

<p>Many people go through their entire life lacking the clarity and the drive to live the wonderful successful life they are entitled to!   They bounce through life allowing life and circumstances to happen to them rather than grabbing life by the horns and charging at it with a vision that is crystal clear!  Establishing a mission statement personally and professionally allows you to keep charging and keeps you focused on the turbulent path to success.  Success is not easy. It is not a straight line. It is a zigzag of success and failures. Your mission statement is there to keep you charging in the right direction. When you hit a bump and you get off course, you get back up and start charging at your mission statement! People with a clear mission statement, clear core values and written out goals will achieve success faster, eliminate distractions, and prevent burn out!  They will charge confidently and passionately towards their dreams!</p>
<p>Before you think a mission statement is some pie in the sky concept that isn&#8217;t practical I want you to think of RHINO STYLE mission statements!  In the book, &#8220;Built to Last,&#8221; James Collins talks about a &#8220;BHAG,&#8221; a big hairy audacious goal! According to Collins, a &#8220;BHAG&#8221; is clear, compelling, and serves to unify a focal point of effort with a clear goal or finish line.  Examples of big hairy audacious goals: A computer on every desk in every home in America, running Microsoft software.  Another example is Amazon with Kindle:  Every book ever printed, in any language, all available in less than 60 seconds.  Those are both rhino-sized goals!<br />

<p>What is your big goal going to be? How can you set clear goals without a clear mission?  You can&#8217;t!   There is a reason you are here. You have something exciting to achieve in your life. Success is waiting for you; you need to decide what you want.  A better business. Increased sales. To sail the world. Happier relationships. More money in the bank. Your dream job. Your dream home.  All of these things are possible in your lifetime, but you must first decide what you really want and set it in stone. Success is not a matter of luck, accident, or fate.  The first step to getting what you want is to decide what you are living for and what you want to achieve in your life.</p>
<p>You are the captain of your own ship.  It doesn&#8217;t matter if that ship is a company or your personal life; you get to decide where to go and how you want to get there.  You wouldn&#8217;t just jump on the boat and start sailing.  You would determine where you want to go, when you will get there and you would use tools to stay on course!  Developing your mission statement helps you stay on course, reading this email once a week helps you stay on course, attending seminars and reading success books keep you on course. First, you must decide where you want to go.<br />

<p>I am challenging you to rip up your old boring mission statement and write one with meaning, passion, vision and something that excites you! Think about your goals, your ambitions, and the most exciting life you can live and put it on paper!  Focus on what you desire not what you fear!</p>
<p>1.  Decide on your life Mission Statement: What do you want to be remembering when you are 80 years old, what do you want to be remembered for when you are gone?</p>
<p>2.  Make a clear professional Mission Statement: If you own your own company, share it with every staff member, post it all over your office and strive everyday to live your mission statement.  If you work in a company that already has a mission statement share your professional mission statement with your boss, manager and make sure it is congruent with your goals. If the company mission statement stinks, help them rewrite it and energize your company!</p>
<p>3.  Think BIG!  Think of being the best!  Think of giving back!  Remember if you give, love and serve others during your life you will always be rewarded!</p>

Bars cannot grow and cannot survive without having standard operating procedures, systems and policies in place. These allow owners to scale the business and figure out where their efficiencies lie and where they need to make improvements. Bar opening and closing checklists should be part of the standard operating procedure.</p>
<p>The opening checklist sets your staff up for the day. The staff member coming in at the start of the day can follow the procedure line by line and set things up for the next staff member.</p>
<p>Much like the opening checklist, the closing checklist ensures that everything is finished and that all necessary operations are completed for the next morning.</p>

You’ll see these discounts on movie tickets, concert tickets, restaurant prices and much more. In order to purchase the deal, you can use your credit card or any Facebook credits that you may have. Once you’ve purchased the deal, you print out the coupon and reedem it!</div>

<p>Well, there are some differences. First of all, it’s unclear if <strong>Facebook Deals </strong>will require a certain number of purchases per deal for that deal to go into effect, like Groupon and LivingSocial. Beyond that, <strong>Facebook Deals</strong>, because of the nature of Facebook, will have more exposure.</p>
<p>Just like links to news stories and videos shared on walls, you can “like” the daily deals and have it show up on your News Feed. Depending on how many people purchase and like a deal, its exposure could continue to multiply.</p>

<li>Right now, we know that Facebook isn’t planning on taking a substantial percentage (if any) of whatever profits a deal makes. Groupon, on the other hand, can take as much as 50%.</li>
<li>Right now &#8211; there are more than 500 billion Facebook users. Besides Facebook’s extremely large audience, its users are also <a href="http://www.thebarblogger.com/5-ways-for-bars-restaurants-to-get-more-engagement-on-facebook/">sharers</a>. We share content by posting it to our page, sending it to our Facebook friends, “liking” it in your News Feed. If you purchase a deal with Groupon or LivingSocial that you were informed of through an email, how will your friends see that? <strong>Facebook Deals</strong> offers instant exposure through the sharing and “liking” of the content (or deals, in this case).</li>
<li>Facebook wants to offer that can increase revenue for your business. These deals won’t necessarily always be like the ones on Groupon or LivingSocial.  “You won’t get your legs waxed with friends,” Emily White, Facebook’s director of local operations, told The Financial Times in March. “You dine out, you go to concerts, and you do outdoor activities. We want to make sure those experiences are maximized.”</li>
